New tools bring new ways to artwork: image software
and video camera.
During the eighties, it became possible for visual arts people to
capture and produce colour images on screen. I searched ways to
realize compositions using silkscreen and fabric printing. Colour
separation, enlargement to fit the size of the frame, printing were
made possible mainly with DeLuxe Paint software on an Amiga computer.
The presence of big pixels in the smallest part of the image recalled
tapestry making.
This analogy is strongly highlighed in «Portraits de dames»
followed by «Icône à Sonia Delaunay».

These women of the classic iconography represent more than an anonymous
model. Their identity is affirmed through the closeness of their
relationship to the painter. I chose my friends as subjects to transform
them into mythic beings with contemporary manners, using digital
images. The overlapping pieces of fabric construct the object: wall
hangings in which the dressed women are melting with the surfaces
ornated with rhythmic shapes, thus confirming the continuity of
the fiber.

A mother, I had a few… I felt inspired by modern art and
Sonia Delaunay’s process had a major influence on me with
her daring and her colour dedication. Nothing less than a fiber
icon where I play rhythmically with her portrait and her name.
