The circle becomes a recurrent format for a while.
My route through labyrinths leads me away from the quadrangle of
the pictorial practice toward more fluid spaces to express myself
on subjects such as earth, water, air, and fire.
«La nuit, le jour», a work made of light and shadows,
is at the center of this exploration.

«Tissus passés, papiers cousus»

The printed fabric becomes integrated with paper. Materials are
selected among former works scraps which I never throw away. Logos
from clothes are added. Naomi Klein’s No Logo has suggested
to me this diverting of the function of logos, turning them back
to the fascinating colours of threads used by the busy seamstresses
who do not have time to pay attention to them.
For small pieces (Petits formats), I borrowed paper
money, sewing liras, francs that became obsolete and five Canadian
dollar bills. I had already showed two small works at the Biennale
de la miniature de Ville-Marie of 1996. With the arrival of the
euro, I felt it worthwhile to keep the old engraved images of paper
money alive in the memory of time.

La nuit, le jour
Seventeen circles assembled creating an eight feet
wide circle on the wall. This work was presented in the exhibition
«Penser Bildung», organized by the CATQ,
touring around the art centers of Quebec. The round surfaces of
light and shadow are floating like islands or planets where reference
points are lost.
